Resources: Online Games
A key to learning is repetition and what better way then to gamify notes and concepts?
Here are some of my favorite tools on the internet for practicing music concepts:
Music Tech Teacher: Interactive games for a variety of concepts - chords, rhythms, notes, composers. A lot of game options to explore.
Name That Note: Timed note review - can pick different clefs with beginner, intermediate, and advanced options - try to beat your own high score.
MusicTheory.Net (Notes): Note review that plays each note. The default is a little harder for beginners, but you can adjust range and accidentals in the settings. It keeps a percentage score, but is less of a game. Helpful for older learners.
MusicTheory.Net (All): Other exercises include key signatures, intervals, scales, and chords.
Whack-a-Mole Note Values: Find the moles with a half note.
Dynamics Maze: Similar to Pac-Man, but collecting loud or soft dynamics.
Music Express: Collect note types/symbols that the train requests to advance levels.
Rhythm Puzzle: Put together a puzzle based on rhythms played
Parrot Phrase: Great for ear-training- play back what is played on the virtual keyboard.
